Top 8 Car Launches of Jan-Feb 2017 in India 

Car manufacturers may well wish Happy New Year to their customers with slew of launches they have lined up. If you have been waiting for the new year to arrive in the market to buy a new car, you may choose from one of the cars that will be launched in January and February of 2017. Here is a look at them:

1.Maruti Ignis

Anyting from the Maruti stable become hot thing, well almost. No wonder the Ignis has been one of the most awaited cars in India for a while now. Originally, the small beauty was scheduled to be launched last year but owing to production constraints of Maruti, the launch was delayed. Maruti now has officially unveiled the Ignis and the launch will happen on January 13, 2017. Maruti will utilise its Nexa chain of dealerships for selling this new car. So far Nexa dealerships have been selling just two cars-Baleno and S-Cross.
The Ignis will have petrol and diesel engine options both. The the petrol engine will be a 1.2-litre engine and the deisel engine will be a 1.3-litre engine. It is learnt from reliable sources that the hatchback will have 5-speed manual transmission and AMT options for both the engine types. The car Ignis will have ABS and dual airbags for all the variants. Now this will be the first vehicle from Maruti to get the Android Auto feature along with Apple CarPlay that will be integrated with its 7-inch display.

2.Tata Hexa
After not so brilliant success with Aria, Tata Motors will again get into the premium crossover segment in the domestic market. The Indian auto maker has planned the launch of this vehicle on 18th January. The Hexa is believed to have terrain response system. It is touted to be the best car Tatas has made so far.

It is learnt from reliable sources that Hexa will powered by 2.2-litre Varicor 400 engine. It churns out a maximum of 157 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. Tata Hexa will have both manual and automatic transmissions but the 4WD will come with manual transmission model only.

3.Skoda Octavia Black Edition

The Octavia will be launched in its new avatar soon. Skoda will introduced the special edition of Octavia known as the Black Edition in the Indian market. The car will have 17-inch Teron black alloy wheels. It will also have black ORVMs and even the roof will be black. Basically, the car will have an aggressive but stylish look with many of the fitments in black colour.

4.Toyota Prius
Toyota had to let go of Prius in India after poor response from the customer. But the Japanese car maker is planning to re-launch the car in India soon. The hybrid was even displayed at the last Auto Expo.

The Toyota car will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine. It will produce a max of 96 BHP and 142 Nm of torque. It will also get an electric motor which will put out a max of 71 BHP and 163 Nm. Prius will return a max of 40 km/l.

5.Tata Kite 5
Tata Motors has tasted some success with the Tiago, Now the company is all set to introduce the sedan version of Tiago. For now, the car has been codenamed 'Kite 5'. The company even showcased the vehicle during Auto Expo last year. The sedan is based on Tiago and will be Tata’s second sub 4-metre sedan in the market after 'Zest'.

This sedan will be powered with similar engine options like Tiago. So there will be 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine and 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder turbo diesel. Both the petrol as well as the diesel engine options will get manual as well as automatic option. The Tiago sedan is expected to be the cheapest sedan in India.

6.Baleno R
Baleno has been extremely successful for Maruti. The hatchback was launched early last year but there is still a longish waiting time for the vehicle. Maruti has also announced the launch of Baleno R, the first decently packaged hatch from Maruti during Auto Expo last year.

Baleno RS launching will happen soon and it will be first Maruti vehicle that will be powered with a turbocharged petrol engine. The 1.0-litre and 3-cylinder unit of Baleno R will produce a max power of 108 BHP and 170 Nm of torque. The Baleno R expected to be successful just like Baleno.

7.Chevrolet Beat
The launch of new version of Chevrolet's 'Beat' has been kept in abeyance for quite some time. After extensive tests, the company is ready launch the new avatar of the hatchback. The new 'Beat' will get a new headlamps, new bumper and new grille.
Even the rear will see some changes. It will get a new bumper, and a tail lamp cluster. Even the dashboard will be updated.

8.Grand i10
The facelifted version of the Hyundai car Grand i10 was unveiled internationally last year. However, the hatchback might be launched in Jan-Feb period itself.
The new model introduced at the Paris Motor Show had many  many new design features like the all-new grille, updated fog lamps and LED DRLs. But the engine options will remain more or less the same. The hatchback will be powered by the same 1.2 litre and 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates a maxi of 82 BHP at 6000 rpm. There will also be a 1.1 litre diesel engine that puts out a max of 70 BHP at 4000 rpm. The diesel engine will only come with 5-speed manual transmission. There will be an option of both manual as well as automatic transmissions with petrol engine.
Since the Grand i10 competes with Maruti's heavy weight 'Swift', the launch of the facelifted version of Grand i10 should happen as soon as possible because the new Swift will be launched in Middle of 2017.
